Comcast could provide television over WiMAX, inflating the bill even higher

U.S. largest cable operator Comcast Corp. said Wednesday it plans to offer subscribers the option of watching their favorite TV programs on mobile devices through its new wireless Internet service.
The company also is considering adding a voice option of wireless bundle, which would bring in more direct competition with mobile phone providers like AT & T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc.
Comcast recently began deploying its wireless Internet services in some U.S. cities as part of a joint venture with Clearwire Corp., which uses WiMax technology.
Will the group of wireless services with their Internet home package and eventually could include its On Demand service online, which allow subscribers to view cable programs on the Web.
"I imagine sometime in the future (On Demand online) with a wireless component," Comcast Chief Financial Officer Michael Angelakis told the Goldman Sachs Communicopia conference.
As consumers increasingly expect to see video on their personal computers and wireless devices like the Apple iPod and iPhone, cable companies are seeking ways to ensure that subscribers do not lose free or cheaper in the demand for Web services.
However cable companies are collaborating with content providers for paying subscribers to watch TV shows instantly through the Internet at no additional cost
Angelakis said there had been discussions about the delivery of voice products on the next generation of wireless high-speed data services – the so-called fourth generation (4G) – but said it was too early to disclose further details.
If Comcast was to launch wireless voice services in Clearwire’s network would be a return of the cable company for the mobile phone industry came out last year after the collapse of a previous cable company joint venture with the operator Wireless, Sprint Nextel Corp.
